Talmage Quotables

This afternoon Talmage ran outside to go play in the backyard and then not even a minute later came back in exclaiming, "It's beastly hot out there, I'm not staying out." It has been in the 90's all week and humid so I can't blame him for not wanting to stay out but where did the expression beastly hot come from. I later found out that in one of the books Aaron read to him someone had a beastly temper and so he was trying out new ways of using the word beastly.

Then tonight after Talmage brushed his teeth, Aaron was helping Anya with hers and asked Talmage why there was water in the tube of toothpaste. Talmage told him "It's called Chemistry." Aaron then tried to explain about acceptable and unacceptable Chemistry-- like he's one to talk. So my 4 1/2 year old feels like he's lacking chemistry in his home school curriculum. I'm in trouble.

Talmage, I love that you are learning new words and how to use them. Have Daddy help you with some 'chemistry' he used when he was younger;-)

Brandon, I guess you need to search the web for more science ciriculum.

That is trouble! Just before our trip, Dallin put on my glasses and came running up to me saying, "Look Mommy! My spectacles are perched on the end of my nose!" I was flabbergasted, just like you were with Talmage and wondered aloud, "What 3 year old talks like that?" He said, "Mommy, it's in the Magic Train book. The toymender says it; let me show you what page it's on" and proceeded to point out the phrase on the right page of the book. But he tells me he doesn't want to learn how to read because only 4 year olds can read. We haven't gotten anywhere near chemistry yet, though.
