Texas Rain and Raging Teeth

Growing up in the Great Northwest I thought I knew all about rain. Well Texas is sure teaching me a thing or two about it. We are still fine but awed by the rain and thunderstorms we have been seeing the past two months. The "major" flooding is getting closer but still not really effecting us. Some members of our stake in outlying areas have been effected though. The rivers/creaks nearest us are Culebra and Helotes. So if flooding gets worse in the City of San Antonio (like it is supposed to this week) we're probably fine unless you hear about those two rivers.

Anya got 4 teeth in this weekend. We have be watching two of these teeth bulge her gums and then subside for months now so we were excited for them to come in, but some more came in along side them and Anya has been miserable. We finally fed her our "miracle" teething and illness food (Pizza) and she got a lot better. We learned about the "health benefits" of Pizza for teething and gastrointestinal illnesses with Talmage and now recommend it to all of our friends! I'm glad it works for Anya too-- she's so opposite of Talmage usually.

Sidewalk Chalk

Anya's hair gets so curly in the humidity!

The kids loved doing sidewalk chalk on the patio during a rain storm a few weeks ago. Talmage, being the little scientist he is, couldn't just draw with the chalk though. He had to see what it was like if it was wet, if it was soaked, if it worked at the bottom of a puddle, and how fast it would dissolve if left in water. Anya is our little artist and loves all mediums -- though she thought that the chalk was food when I first pulled it out of the package. She tried to take a big bite off it when I gave her the first piece. After I explained to her what it was she didn't try to eat it again but loved drawing and pretending to write with it. She also followed and assisted Talmage in a few of his experiments.

Talmage and Aaron

While Sarah, Brian, and Sierra were visiting we went to two of the Missions in South San Antonio. At the museum there were these National Park Ranger uniforms to stand behind. The Missions were fun to see but it was a very hot day to be outside and in old non air conditioned buildings. We'll have to try visiting them in the winter or spring so that we can appreciate them better.

Crib Fun

The kids love playing in Anya's crib when she wakes up in the morning or from a nap. Talmage pulls all his blankets, pillow, stuffed animals, scriptures, stories, and other odds and ends into Anya's crib and they can play there together for a surprising amount of time. Anya has not tried to get out of her crib yet-- probably because she is so well entertained in it by Talmage.

Daddy's Computer Nerds

Publish Post
These kids sure take after their Dad! People tend to "donate" computers and parts to Aaron's pile of "junk". Both of these computers were "donated". The lap top Talmage is using is old, it probably came out before I graduated from high school, but he can type his name on it and play learning games. Talmage even "worked" on it until he got the battery working-- something Aaron thought wasn't worth fixing.

Digger

Aaron, Anya, and Talmage driving a "digger" at the San Antonio Children's Museum.

Bubble Ranch

Anya and Talmage at the San Antonio Children's museum. They are dressed up in waterproof smock costumes in the "Bubble Ranch" exhibit. Anya loves bubbles. They have a rigged up hula hope contraption that allows you to make a bubble around you-- that's Aaron's favorite!
