Happy Birthday Elmo

Anya had been telling me for months that Elmo's birthday was on the same day as mine. I didn't think much about it because she tells me a lot of interesting things about Elmo everyday. He is her imaginary friend as well as her stuffed animal and scape goat. He sometimes gets into mischief and keeps Anya awake late into the night. So when Anya went downstairs on the morning my birthday she was very pleased to see that Dad had decorated for Elmo's birthday. I didn't have the heart to tell her he'd done it for my birthday, not Elmo's. We had a great birthday party for Elmo at lunch time. We made little finger sandwiches and fruit salad. We also made him a little cake with two candles on it. Anya dragged out the baby seat and all his stuffed animal friends. It ended up being a bigger party than I expected and we didn't have enough seating for all his friends. Several had to sit on a blanket next to the table.

When we lit the candles on his cake, Talmage ran to the piano to play "Happy Birthday",
while Anya and I sang.

.

Anya was very satisfied with the party. Talmage enjoyed the party so much that he announced that the next day was Puppy's birthday.

My Girl

Tonight Anya and I did the grocery shopping while the boys stayed home to clean. While I was getting something out of the freezer section the glass door fogged up and Anya took the opportunity to write Talmage's name with her finger in the fog. When I shut the door I was surprised to see how fast she had worked. What a brilliant girl. I always thought kids were stupid for writing or carving their own name on their desk, wall, or other place they shouldn't. It's obvious who wrote it because it's their name in their hand writing. Anya's got the right idea; if you need to do some graffiti write another person's name so you don't get busted.

Not that I condone graffiti or think writing in the foggy class with your finger counts as graffiti. I'm just please my girl is smart enough not to write her own name on public property. Next step will hopefully be not writing on public property.

Snow

It's official. It snowed in San Antonio! We actually watched the white flakes come down, by themselves, with out rain mixed in. Of course nothing stuck but the kids ran outside yelling, "It's snowing, it's snowing!" Then they got cold and came back in. Time to break out the Stephen's hot chocolate-- thanks HoneyGram!

Weird Weather

Yesterday the kids played for hours out in the warm sunshine. They dug holes in the backyard and buried "weed seeds". They swung on the swings with their shoes and socks off. They really had a good time. Today it is raining with snow and ice chunks mixed in. Weird weather!
